Fairplex, governed
by the Los Angeles County Fair Association, is
the home of the historic L.A. County Fair and
other quality year-round educational, multi-cultural
and entertainment events tailored for business
and industry and for the enrichment and enjoyment
of Southern California's adults, youth and families.

CORPORATE STRUCTURE |

The L.A. County Fair Association
is a 501(c)(5) non-profit mutual benefit organization.
The Fair Association manages and produces the L.
A. County Fair. The Association is self-supporting
and does not fall under the auspices of any county
or state governmental body. The Association consists
of 50 members, including an 11-member board of
directors. Directors are elected annually by and
from the Association. Officers, management and
staff are employed by the Fair Association. The
Association has a long-term lease with the County
of Los Angeles for use of the grounds. Surplus
revenues generated by the Fair and other activities
are re-invested into the maintenance and development
of the facility. |

The Fairplex grounds cover 543 acres
and include nearly 325,000 square feet of modern
column-free indoor
exhibit space in eight spacious exhibit halls; Fairplex
Park, a major horse racing facility with a
grandstand and 5/8-mile racetrack; the luxurious
247-suite Sheraton
Suites Fairplex Hotel; the Barretts
Equine Limited, a world-class equine auction
complex; a recreational
vehicle park; a state-of-the art child
development center; scenic parks, plazas and
picnic areas; a historic train exhibit; 12 acres
of carnival grounds; and approximately 250 acres
of paved parking areas to accommodate 30,000 vehicles. |

L.A. COUNTY FAIR |

Originated in 1922, the L.A.
County Fair is a showcase of entertainment,
education, exhibits, horticulture, arts, agriculture,
horse racing, science, technology and special
attractions. It is the largest county fair in
North America and annually ranks in the top 10
among all North American fairs and exhibitions.
The annual average attendance for the Fair is
approximately 1.3 million. Fair attendance has
topped 1 million people in all but one year since
1948. |

Fairplex, home of the annual L.A.

for Pomona since 1922, providing the region with

Fairplex is home to the annual L. A. County Fair

other events throughout the year. Activities
include trade and consumer shows, sporting events,
conventions, meetings, inter-track wagering and
agricultural events. Most events besides the Fair
are produced by organizations other than the Fair
Association. |

SHERATON FAIRPLEX |
|
|
|
|
The Sheraton Fairplex hotel opened in June
1992. The eight-story hotel
features 247 full-size suites, swimming pool,
fitness center, lounge and restaurant. The hotel is
located just outside of the Red entrance gate
near McKinley and White Avenues.
