The mission of the Fairplex Education Foundation is to provide learning experiences that are interactive, fun, and inspire passion for lifelong learning. On the unique Fairplex campus, known as the “world’s largest classroom®,” people of all ages participate in educational programming that brings curricula to life and introduces a wide spectrum of careers.
The Foundation's goal is to provide both Fair-time and year-round educational opportunities on the L.A. County fairgrounds for children and adults in local communities. Through the FairKids Discovery Club Field Trip Program, nearly 100,000 students, teachers, and chaperones from nearly 500 schools (representing over 70 school districts in Southern California) experience the many educational opportunities available at the Fair. Students are engaged through interactive exhibits and lessons plans that make learning fun, based on curriculum standards from the California State Department of Education. For many of the children, it is their first exposure to the unique aspects of farm life. With additional resources, the Foundation plans to maintain "FairView Farms" a year-round farm, which promotes livestock, agriculture, equine and horticultural education.
