Each year the L.A. County Fair honors Community Heroes – seniors, adults and young adults – from 19 surrounding Inland Valley cities during the 23 days of the Fair, Sept. 5 – Oct. 4. Friday, Oct. 2 is Ontario Day at the Fair, a day for celebrating volunteers, humanitarians, students, neighbors and community organizations working to make their city a better place to live for everyone.
Ontario Day festivities include a parade down Broadway and a presentation on the Pepper Street Stage honoring Ontario’s community hero.
Taking top billing in the parade is Grady Jennings, Ontario’s community hero. As founder of The Dignity Group, a financial services company, Jennings has donated 13,000 hours of his time and expertise assisting more than 500 local special needs families. As a widowed parent of a special needs child, Jennings recognized the critical shortage of available economic and legal resources for special needs families. His goal is to empower these families while providing individualized services to them at no cost. “Empowering families is my passion and my love. The satisfaction a family has after spending time here [at The Dignity Group] is truly something special,” Jennings explained.
Ontario residents, friends, family and supporters can join their community celebration at a reduced admission price with a buy-one-get-one-free admission coupon good for Friday, Oct. 2! Coupons are available at the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, City Hall and other community locations. Come for the Fair; stay for the community festivities: parade at 5 p.m. and hero presentation at 5:30 p.m.
