VINE AND DINE AT THE FAIR’S WINE & SPIRITS MARKETPLACE

Who knew a county fair could be so chic? That’s right, we said chic. Step into the Wine & Spirits Marketplace, presented by Ralphs, at the L.A. County Fair and we’ll show you the real Los Angeles side of our event. We have a wine bar, a beer bar and a spirits bar that will rival anything that can be found downtown.

Taste the winning wines, spirits and olive oils from the Los Angeles International Wine & Spirits and Extra Virgin Olive Oil competitions held earlier in the year, or sit in on a wine or food class taught by some of the best experts and chefs in the state. There’s also shopping and light fare for easy dining.

Classes and seminars in wine, spirits and olive oil are offered through the Fair’s Wine Education program. Sign up for one of the many wine education classes, such as Hot Nights - Cool Crisp Whites, Tommy Lasorda’s Gold Medal Collection and The Vine & The Tree (Wine & Extra Virgin Olive Oils of Italy’s Regions). Each wine class features a minimum of six wines and each participant will receive a tasting ticket for a Gold Medal Winner at the International Tasting Bar. The cost to participate is $17 per class, $8 for extra virgin olive oil. Food demonstrations, conducted by top area chefs, are free. Classes are extremely popular and fill up quickly. A complete list of all classes is available at lacountyfair.com.

Nearly 3,500 wines, 199 spirits and more than 475 olive oils were entered into the prestigious competitions. Now it’s your turn to choose your favorite. Stop by for a sample.

Guests can also enjoy beers from the Los Angeles International Commercial Beers Competition at the Beer Tavern. Enjoy your brewski with some pretzels and watch sports on the big screen.

The Crushed Grape offers everything from award-winning wines, olive oils and cheeses to the finest in gourmet kitchen, wine and olive oil accessories. The L.A. County Fair opens Labor Day weekend, Sept. 5 – 7 and then Wednesday – Sunday, Sept. 9 – Oct. 4, closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Live thoroughbred racing Sept. 10 – 28, dark Mondays Sept. 14 and 21 and Tuesdays. For information about ways to save at the Fair, visit lacountyfair.com.
